Dehumidifiers
Choosing the right dehumidifier
The easiest way to choose a dehumidifier is to think about where you will use it, how much moisture you need to remove, and which extra features would be useful.
1. Is the space cold or heated?
For most heated homes, a compressor dehumidifier is the best choice and will generally be more economical to run. Most of our dehumidifiers are compressors including these ranges: Arete One and Arete Two, and ABC.
If you are using a dehumidifier in a space that regularly falls below 10°C, such as a garage, boat, conservatory or other unheated area, a desiccant dehumidifier is better suited to the colder conditions. Our desiccant range is called DD8L.
2. How much moisture do you need to remove?
For a single room or smaller home, a smaller-capacity compressor model may be all you need.
Choose a larger 20L or 25L model if you have a larger home, higher humidity levels, persistent condensation or regularly dry laundry indoors.
3. Are there any extra features you need?
Some models offer additional features that may make them more suitable for your home:
- Laundry mode for speeding up indoor clothes drying.
- HEPA air purification if dust, pollen or airborne particles are a concern.
- Continuous drainage if you want the unit to drain automatically rather than emptying the tank.
- Low-noise operation if the dehumidifier will be used in bedrooms or living areas.
Quick guide
Heated home: Choose a compressor dehumidifier.
Cold or unheated space below 10°C: Choose a desiccant model.
Large home or lots of laundry: Look at a 20L or 25L compressor model.
Want cleaner air too: Choose a model with HEPA filtration.
