Cooking smells that linger for hours. A stale, musty feeling in rooms that never quite air out. Or that faint chemical odour from new furniture, cleaning products, or DIY jobs. These are the everyday air quality irritations that standard dehumidifiers do not touch. The Meaco Charcoal Filter is designed to work with your Arete One or Arete Two machine to tackle exactly this, trapping odours and unwanted gases rather than just masking them.
How it helps
The filter uses activated charcoal to absorb smells from cooking and reduce volatile organic compounds, or VOCs, that float around homes and offices. It is three quarters larger than the filter used on Meaco's Low Energy range, which means more surface area to catch contaminants as air passes through. It slots into your existing Arete unit, so the machine continues to dry the air while also cleaning it.
Getting the best from it
- Run your Arete on air purification mode in kitchens after cooking, or in rooms where smells tend to settle.
- Position the unit where air circulates freely, not tucked behind furniture where the filter cannot draw properly.
- Replace the filter when you notice odours returning or airflow dropping, as charcoal becomes saturated over time.
- Use it in home offices or workspaces where printers, adhesives, or new furnishings release VOCs.
Who it suits
This suits anyone who already owns an Arete One or Arete Two 20L or 25L dehumidifier and wants to add odour and VOC control without buying a separate air purifier. It is not for other Meaco models, nor for anyone expecting it to remove dust or pollen, which requires a HEPA filter instead. If your main problem is damp and mould alone, you do not need this, your dehumidifier handles that already.
