How it helps

The MeacoCool draws warm air from your room, cools it using refrigerant, and blows cold air back in. Warm air exits through a flexible hose that fits into your window using one of the two included kits. Unlike older portable units that blast at full power then stop and start, this uses inverter technology to adjust its output continuously. This keeps the temperature steady, uses only the energy needed, and runs more quietly. It also heats, dries damp air, and works as a fan, so you can use it year round.

Getting the best from it

• Fit the window kit properly. This stops warm outside air sneaking back in, which makes a real difference to how well the room cools.
• Use Super Quiet mode at night. It dims the display and slows the fan, which helps if you are a light sleeper.
• Move it to where you need it. The castors let you roll it between rooms, though it is a heavy unit so you will want to plan the route.
• Schedule it with the app. Set it to cool the bedroom before you go up, or the office before you start work.

Who it suits

This suits homeowners or renters with one large room, around 35 to 40 square metres, that gets uncomfortably hot.
