Irish summers can be stifling in bedrooms that trap heat, and winter nights bring stuffy air that keeps you awake. If you need a cool breeze by your bed, at your desk, or while you relax in the garden, but trailing cables are a nuisance, this is built for you.
How it helps
The MeacoFan 260c is a small, battery-powered fan that moves air around you without needing a plug socket. It runs on a rechargeable battery that gives up to 14 hours of cooling on its lowest setting. You charge it via USB from your laptop, PC, or any socket, then carry it where you need it. A DC brushless motor keeps it whisper quiet, below 20 dB, so it will not disturb sleep or concentration. The head tilts manually, 65 degrees up and 10 degrees down, to direct airflow where you want it.
Getting the best from it
- Charge it fully before first use, and keep it topped up so it is ready when heat strikes.
- Use fan speed 1 overnight for the longest battery life, or higher speeds when you need stronger cooling for shorter periods.
- Position it slightly above you and angle the head down to create a gentle wash of air across your body rather than blasting your face.
- The battery can be replaced when it eventually wears out, so keep the unit rather than discarding it.
Who it suits
This suits anyone needing personal, portable cooling: hot sleepers, people working from home without air conditioning, parents of babies in stuffy nurseries, or anyone wanting breeze in the garden or on public transport. It is not for cooling large open-plan rooms or whole houses, where a bigger fan or fixed unit would serve better. It also will not run in temperatures below 5 degrees Celsius, so it is strictly a warmer-weather device. If you need powerful airflow for big spaces, look elsewhere.
